For Windows computers you have two choices:
The Windows install file (MSI file) is a standard windows installer. Download the zip file and run the "windows_install" MSI file. It will install the MyRingToneServer files on your computer & configure it on your start menu.
If you have admin privileges on your computer, a typical run through the installer will be fine for you.
If you don't have admin privileges you might need to change the install directory to somewhere in your documents and settings by using the browse button.
The other Windows computer option is Java Web Start. Most windows computers are already configure to know how to handle this file and if yours is, run the installation file from the web is all you need to do - Sun's software will authenticate that the file you download is indeed the file we digitally signed when ftp-ing it up. If your computer isn't configured for Java Web Start you can download new java software from Sun that will enable you to get configured, but you will probably just find it easier to just use the previous Windows installer option.
For Apple and Linux machines we also have two options:
Java Web Start works like a charm if you have Java fully installed (MAC's come shipped this way).
If not, revert to the zipped JAR file, you don't get the fully automated installation but you do get to trial the ringtone server and see if you like it.
