Firewall help

Once your Port forwarding is configured you might still find you are not getting through from your phone to your ringtone server (or from our test page). Configuring that port forwarding (aka setting up a virtual server) configures your router to send traffic through to your computer, it is also possible that your computer could be refusing this traffic because of the way the firewall is configured.

•  Windows XP
Click your Start button, and select "Settings", then "Control Panel", a window opens up for you, select "Security Center" by double clicking on it and another window opens up showing you the status of the Windows security settings.

The only one we are interested in here is the Firewall option (should be the first on the list). If is says "NOT MONITORED, you don't have to change anything you can just close both windows that have been opened for you.

If it says anything other that NOT MONITORED, scroll the window all the way down and click on the "Windows Firewall" link at the bottom (and another new window opens). Click the Exceptions tab then the "Add Port" button and yet another window opens. Enter the Name as MyRingToneServer and the port number as 21080 (if you changed the port number from 21080 on the MyRingToneServer settings screen enter that number here instead of 21080), then click OK. You can now see that MyRingToneServer has been added to the exceptions tab. You can now close the security center and control panel windows.

•  Apple MAC OS/X
Click on your system preferences icon and in the Internet & Network category near the bottom, click on sharing.

Select firewall and click on "New...". Set the port number to be 21080 and the description to be MyRingToneServer, click on the Allow checkbox.
