Q. Why do we charge a yearly fee ?
A. In server mode, we enable you to have easier access from your phone via (for example) http://www.MyRingToneServer.com/users/example, once registered you don't actually have to use this address you can use the address that MyRingToneServer displays on your screen, but the nice name (via our site) is easier to type, easier to remember and easier to bookmark as it never changes. If, after the first year, you choose not to renew your license, a special feature of your copy of MyRingToneServer is unlocked that allows you to still use it on your machine and still access it via your phone but you just cannot use it via the easier address - you have to access your ringtone server via its WAN IP address (for example) http://101.102.103.104:21080/.
In client mode, there is no way to bypass MyRingToneServer.com, the annual license merely limits you to using your 20 downloads within a reasonable timeframe to help us maintain a well optimized database.
